It is our primary mission to provide a platform that promotes wholesome food journeys that spotlight people of color, specifically in black and brown communities. The first of its kind for FoodTalksDC, and in celebration of Black History Month, we are creating space for black and brown women to share our roots and food wellness journeys. This will be an interactive collective experience where stories will be documented and shared with a broader audience on our social media platform. Each woman is the narrator of HERstory, making her the storyteller. This event is for the everyday black and brown woman; our voices are powerful. The Waterhole is Mt. Rainer’s very first commercial juice bar, owned and operated by Lisa Harris, a black woman who started the business as a result of her father’s passing due to health complications. You will have the opportunity to hear Lisa’s food + wellness story firsthand. Consent Role-Play Workshop

Even more pervasive are the unsatisfying encounters and bad sex that our inability to communicate leads to. Let’s tackle this head on! At this workshop, we will define consent, discuss different kinds, and then practice communicating what we do and don’t want, all in a safe, supportive environment. You will leave more confident in your ability to advocate for yourself and to hear your partner’s needs. This workshop is open to everyone. Ticket price is per person.
Where: The Lemon Collective – 3015 Georgia Avenue Northwest – Washington, DC 20001
When: Tues, March 6th, 2018 7pm – 9pm
