Doing, Reading, Eating, Watching – March 13, 2023

March 13th, 2023 – March 20th, 2023

This week has been kicking my butt a bit. That planner conference really sparked a fire in me and I’ve been working ever since. I finally cracked open How We Heal by Alexandra Elle that I got back at the Well Read Black Girl Festival. Whew I already know I’m bout to be worn out because healing can be an exhausting process. This move has been kicking my ass because I’ve had to purge cause I have way too much stuff. I’ve also been working my way through “the Afrominimalist Guide to Living With Less” cause I’ve got WAY too much stuff. Last night I decided to watch the Oscars with my dad and while there were definitely some cringe moments, overall I’m glad I tuned in. There were a lot of historic firsts!! Ruth Carter became the first Black woman to win a second Oscar. She reminded us all that Black women are magical.

Ke Huy Quan reminded us to never give up. To go from being a child actor, to feeling forgotten for 20 years to return for this EPIC movie AND win was incredible to watch. The only thing sweeter was watching him hug it out with Harrison Ford.

My last favorite moment was watching the Daniels win for Best Original Screenplay!!

They did Auntie Angela dirty by giving the Oscar to Jamie Lee Curtis (and I love Jamie Lee Curtis) because she wasn’t even the best supporting actress in her own movie!! Angela should have won and my second vote was for Stephanie Hsu who SLAYED that role. I love these two Black men, Michael B Jordon and Jonathan Majors for giving her love and acknowledgement.
