Small Business Working Group Series, hosted by DC Women’s Business Center
Who: DC Women’s Business Center
What: Creating A Just Economy 2018 NCRC Conference is coming up on April 9-11, 2018 in Washington, D.C. The DC WBC will be hosting the Working Group Series at NCRC’s National Conference. The Small Business Working Group Series will feature workshops designed for aspiring or existing small business owners. Session topics include business planning, strategy and organizational management, continuous improvement, business expansion, government contracting, and financial education. This series is ideal for start-ups, experienced entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders.

Louis Lortie and Hélène Mercier [Concert]
Who: Louis Lortie & Helene Mercier
What: Louis Lortie and Hélène Mercier Canadian pianists Louis Lortie and Hélène Mercier have been performing together since their student days, and have developed a remarkable sensitivity to the four-hand and two-piano literature. Their program features staples of the Russian two-piano repertoire, with a few hidden gems included. This performance celebrates the Library’s acquisition of the manuscript of the two-piano version of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, a work for which the Library now possesses all major source materials. Pre-Concert Lecture – Blair Johnston, PhD, Associate Professor of Music Theory, Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University 6:30 pm–Whittall Pavilion. Reserved seats not claimed by five minutes before the scheduled start of the event will be distributed to RUSH patrons. For more information about RUSH visit www.loc.gov/concerts/tickets.html. For patrons unable to obtain a reservation, we still encourage attendance—while there is no guarantee of seating due to the intimate size of some spaces, patrons are almost always able to be accommodated. Children must be at least 7 years old for admittance to concert events.

2018 Cherry Blossom Festival

What: Volunteer with the Case Western Reserve University Baltimore/D.C. Alumni Chapter during the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade at the National Mall. For the fourth year running, CWRU will have a crew of balloon handlers volunteering in the parade! All are welcome, whether you are an experienced balloon handler or you are (literally) learning the ropes! Volunteer training, t-shirts, gloves, donuts and coffee will be provided. Volunteers must be 18 or older.  Don’t let this opportunity drift away, sign up today!

DC Wine Fest ! Spring Edition

What: Black Girls Gather is an evening of conversation in support of community building and sisterhood guided by For Harriet’s editor-in-chief, Kimberly Foster. Drank + Chat is an intimate pre-event gathering for those who’d like to sit down with Kim and a small group of Black women before the larger discussion. Drinks and food will be served. It will begin at 6:30PM. If you buy a ticket to Drank + Chat, you do not need to purchase an additional ticket to the main discussion at 7:30.
